One of the best parts of visiting Bali is hopping around the island to experience all the different vibes in Bali. There is the slow & mellow vibe, the raw and rugged jungle vibe, the village vibe, the party vibe, and we can’t forget the resort vibe. Suffice it to say the vibes are not lacking that is for sure.
Think of inexpensive homestays, luxury hotels, and bohemian-style villas. In this List of The Best Places to Stay in Bali for any Budget, you will definitely find what you’re looking for. The weather in Bali is amazing year round however there are the drier months and the wetter months. Make sure to plan accordingly. If you are on a tight budget and don’t want to miss out on this incredible island due to the cost, the rainy season is a good choice. Think tropical showers periodically, not constant downpours.

Most accommodations include great amenities such as spas, pools, restaurants, and hospitality like you’ve never experienced before.
Don’t let the low prices scare you. While you’re in Bali, you will often think, “This is too good to be true,” but don’t worry, it is true, and this is real life! Some of the more quaint, locally owned accommodations are even more magical than the larger and more modernized resorts found throughout the island and are much more affordable.
It’s all about the kind of experience you want to have.
The most popular and lively areas to stay in Bali are Uluwatu, Ubud, Canggu, Kuta, and Legian. Doing your research ahead of time is critical if you’re a planner because there are countless options when you are there, and it is easy to become overwhelmed. Finding somewhere to stay on the spot will also take time away from the fun you should be having instead.
Quick Tips
Keep in mind that most of Bali is spread out, and having a motorbike or taking local transportation is the best option. Look into setting up “grab or gojek” prior to your arrival which is equivalent to Lyft or Uber. It is incredibly affordable. They have both a motorbike and vehicle pick up option. So dont worry about missing out on the bike action. Being on a bike is the best way to see Bali in my opinion.
Also, most Resorts and Hotels allow you to enjoy their amenities even if you aren’t staying at the property simply by having a drink or grabbing a bite onsite. This is a great way to watch the sunset, with drinks and music flowing.
Uluwatu
“Ulu” is one of the best parts of the island and a favorite for many. Located about 45 minutes from the airport and an hour away from Seminyak, Uluwatu is known as the surf mecca of Bali.
With epic cliff-top views, hidden beaches, and a more laid-back vibe than the rest of the island, Ulu is the perfect spot to spend some time in Bali. Couples, families, and solo travelers will find this area a great choice. 
In Ulu, you have easy access to hotspots like Single Fin, Ulu Cliff House, Uluwatu Temple, Bingin Beach & some of the most luxury resorts in the world that usually offer day pass access.
Blue Point $
With a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean from the infinity pool, this Hotel boasts a
traditional Balinese concept with lush gardens and modern comforts. You really are paying for the location and amenities.
The infinity pool, bar, views, and Spa make this a great choice.
However, I’ll be honest the rooms could use a 2023 upgrade. If you intend to use the room for just sleep, this place is excellent for your budget and in a good location to reach some of the best hot spots in Uluwatu.
S Resorts Hidden Valley $$
Known for its location near all the luxury day clubs, S Resorts Hidden Valley is the more affordable option than those has a slower and more cozy vibe being tucked away from the coast. The lush tropical gardens throughout the property are a defining feature, not to mention the four pools, daily yoga offered, a fabulous day spa, daily beach shuttle service, and dining options for even the pickiest eater. This eco-friendly resort is a beautiful getaway and only a 10-minute drive to the most fantastic beaches.
Six Senses Uluwatu $$$$
If your budget permits staying here will be an experience like no other. It is not just a hotel. Six Senses promotes a wellness experience along with a one-of-a-kind spa. You don’t need to leave the Hotel when you are here. Bali comes to you. As one of the island’s newest and most stunning resorts, this Oasis is the perfect place to honeymoon or escape from the world and live your best island life. Where tradition and local culture merges with elegant accommodations.
Ubud
Ubud is centrally located in the middle of the jungle in the Gianyar region of Bali. Rich in culture, traditional Balinese arts, temples, and gardens, this part of Bali is an absolute gem. It should be included on the Bali itinerary.

Angsoka Bungalow $
Being on a budget in Bali doesn’t mean skimping on the quality of accommodations by any means. The Angsoka is a quaint boutique hotel that will be one of your main highlights while staying in Ubud. Located above the Petanu River, only a fifteen-minute drive or a 30-minute walk to the center is Angsoka. Traditional Balinese accommodations surrounded by lush jungle and exceptional hospitality make this a great choice.
All the rooms are fabulous and complete with a private terrace or balcony to take in the views. The property also has a fresh pool to dip in during those hot summer months; this is a perfect pick since no ocean is nearby!
Alaya Resort $$
This sanctuary of serenity and sophistication is located in the culturally charged center of Ubud. The Alaya Resort is set amid rice fields that offer relaxing views from your room. It is also conveniently located in Monkey Forest and the famous Yoga Barn and within walking distance to the best restaurants, shops, temples, and the Ubud Palace. The entire property boasts lush greenery, and the rooms have a traditional yet modern feel.
Alam Jiwa $$$
Alam Jiwa translates as the soul of nature. Hidden in a small village behind Monkey Forest is an escape like no other. The history of the establishment is a great story starting in the 80s as a traditional Balinese Warung. The hospitality from the local staff, many of who have been with them since the start, is second to none. Only a 15-minute walk to the City Centre at Alam Jiwa, you have a home nest within lush gardens along a flowing stream. Could it get any better?
Canggu
(Changoo) is a bustling and fast-paced resort-style village surrounded by tranquil rice terraces. This trendy area has been buzzing in recent years. Known now as a hipster hotspot with surf and beach culture, along with a young nightlife and plenty of fun bars to choose from.
Without going to the cooler temperatures in the jungle of Ubud, ex-pats and digital nomads come here to experience the same vibe along with being nearby the gorgeous beaches and sunsets you can’t find in the jungle. If you are okay with a bit of the hustle and bustle, it’s a great central location. Canggu is a relatively small area, so walking around and stumbling upon a great restaurant or shopping is highly likely.
Koa D Surfer Hotel $
A boho boutique property within walking distance of some of the best cafes on the island and minutes from Berawa Beach. is Koa D Surfer Hotel. Koa is a good choice if you’re on a budget but still looking for modern amenities. The rooftop bar and pool overlooking rice paddy terraces with bean bag chairs are the ultimate win after a long day. Stay to watch the sunset or chill after dark with a cocktail. There is everything you need in a prime location.
ECOsfera Hotel, Yoga & Spa $$
In the heart of Canggu, near Echo Beach, is the unforgettable Ecosfera Hotel.
This resort makes any stay memorable with villa-style rooms, a refreshing pool, and gorgeous gardens around the property. The ECOspa and Yoga Shala on site is the perfect touch to a great stay if you want to unwind the mind and body without ever leaving the Hotel.
Citadines Berawa Beach Bali $$
Another fabulous choice is Citadines. It is just a 5-minute walk to Berawa Beach. This larger and newer property offers plenty, such as an onsite restaurant, rooftop bar, swimming pool, and crisp modern air-conditioned rooms. It is also located nearby the best shopping, dining, and entertainment, so don’t worry about the traffic you may have encountered to get here.
Legian & Seminyak
Legian is set between two of the most epic beaches in Bali. It has all the facets of Bali you want at the ready. You have terrific beaches with warm, clear water to swim in, luxurious resorts to dine at, and traditional and boutique shops to shop in. Plus, there is the perfect mix of laid-back surf vibes and Seminyak’s fun and lively crowds. The only setback is that tourists flock here, which can make it a little crowded and pricey.
One of the most trendy parts of Bali is Seminyak. Known for its location, beautiful white sandy stretch of beaches with colorful umbrellas, luxury resorts, high-end shopping, and dining. Seminyak is notorious for its nightlife, sophisticated bars, and beach clubs that all have a buzzing sunset scene. It’s when the sun goes down that lively’s up. Being so close to each other, I have grouped places to stay in this area together.
Three Brothers Bungalows & Villas $
One of the OG’s in the area. Three Brothers is tucked away from the bustling and noisy street and have a traditional Balinese character and modern comforts. The property is continuously renovated without sacrificing any of its charms. It is also surrounded by gardens that most rooms look out to. Onsite, there is a restaurant, bar, and a refreshing pool. It is also within walking distance of Legian Beach and only 20 minutes from the airport.
Bali Mandira Resort & Spa $$
Being such a popular area means prices are exceptionally high in this tourist hotspot. However, The Mandira isn’t on the mega scale that the neighboring luxury resorts are making it a more affordable option. With the beach at your feet and the Beach Walk Shopping mall a ten-minute walk, this location is prime. The Hotel itself is so gorgeous and has excellent amenities, including four outdoor swimming pools with one kids’ pool and a waterslide! There is even a swim-up bar, sun-loungers, and private cabanas, an ultra-hip beach club with delicious food and drinks. It is such a great option that everyone will enjoy.
Padma Resort Legian $$$
One of the best places in Legian to stay is the Padma Resort. Aside from its prime location, the property is absolutely stunning. Like other resorts in Bali, Padma is no different in being surrounded by well-manicured gardens and tropical greenery. 
There is also the perfect mix of contemporary and Balinese-inspired vibes backed by world-class facilities. The restaurant on site offers a Peruvian-Japanese-inspired menu to take over your senses after watching the most beautiful sunset or spending time playing in the sun all day! Other amenities include Italian and Indonesian dining options as well as 3 bars, a tennis court, and Spa. This is the place to be; I guarantee you won’t want to leave.
Kuta
The infamous Bali takeover, Kuta, is closest to the airport. It is an overdeveloped area now, but it is the ultimate place to be on a budget and to go wild on the island! Known for a younger crowd, backpackers, and party animals that all flock to this area to turn up island style. Gorgeous beaches with rows of loungers and umbrellas line the shores. Surfing and other water activities are not limited; the drinks and fun continue flowing too. If that is your vibe, the heavy nightlife scene is also something to experience. Good music, food, and vibes are not lacking in Kutas nightlife scene.
Sulis Beach Hotel & Spa $
Just 100 feet away from the beach, The Sulis Beach Hotel & Spa offers a rooftop pool, a restaurant, Spa, and a bar. It is in the perfect area for surfing and lounging on the beach. It’s also only 5 minutes from the airport, and after a long flight, the Spa at the Sulis is a win. With clean, intelligently designed amenities and excellent value for your money, you can’t go wrong booking here.
The Vira Bali Boutique Hotel & Suite $$
The Vira Hotel and Suites is a great option and has a great location close to the airport, with the sand at your toes in less than 500 feet. Only 5 mins from the airport, within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and Waterbom Park, you will be happy you chose to stay here. Along with all its other amenities, the Hotel also provides free use of bicycles during your stay, has an on-site restaurant, and offers 24-hour room service. The breakfast included with your stay is a perfect way to start your day.
Bintang Bali Resort $$
Surrounded by traditional lush greenery, The Bintang Bali Resort is one of Bali’s best places to stay. So close to the airport, beaches, shopping, dining, and nightlife, Bintang is an excellent choice for all kinds of travelers. A huge perk is that this budget-friendly boutique resort has all the amenities you need without leaving. The onsite European restaurant is the perfect touch when you are in the mood for something different, and the Spa is such a treat after a long day of island life.
Bonus Location: Jimbaran
The Balquisse Heritage Hotel $$
Jimbaran isn’t one of the most searched or sought out areas to stay in Bali but is centered between Kuta and Uluwatu. However, this is actually a great location.
Honestly, I almost wish that I had stayed in Jimbaran at The Balquisse Heritage Hotel my entire 2+ weeks in Bali. I did, however, extend my stay as long as I could. It is definitely in the top 5 places I have ever stayed at worldwide, and it 100% deserves the bonus spot in this post!
From the moment you pull into the hidden driveway and make your way to the reception area, your senses become heightened with traditional Balinese incense taking over and guiding you to the staff that is ready to warmly greet you.
Along with its Heritage Charm, the Hotel is within walking distance to Jimbaran Beach, where you can find beach loungers to rent and relax at and excellent fresh seafood with tables on the beach.
In addition, the Hotel itself is located in a quiet area that adds to its serenity. From its elegant charm, multiple pools, Spa, and delicious onsite restaurant, The Balquisse Heritage Hotel should not be overlooked.
There is a full restaurant on site with an epic breakfast spread however just around the corner less than a 2 minute walk is The Balique. It’s possibly owned by the same group that established the Balquisse Heritage Hotel because the decor is almost identical and the food is phenomenal. I ate there almost every day that I was in Jimbaran for lunch or dinner. After trying Nasi Goreng all over Bali the winner is at the Balique restaurant. A yummy dinner complimented by a fabulous espresso martini is a win in my book.
However sweet the prices sound on the island, if your budget allows, there are spectacular once-in-a-lifetime places to stay for just a few more bucks. You will be in awe of the value for your money. Splurge, you’re on vacation!
