Hero Honeymooners in Spain
From honeymooners to heroes in a matter of minutes! These newlyweds became instant heroes after helping save nearly 20 babies from a burning nursery in Spain.
In case you missed this incredible story let me fill you in!
Last month (September 2022) in Barcelona these incredible Rhode Islanders on their honeymoon ran into a burning building they came across on their way to a tour. They had no idea what was inside of the building on fire. After seeing several women outside of the doorway panicking, David Squillante and Doran Smith’s instincts kicked in and they ran into what they thought was just a regular building on fire. Once inside they were surprised to find more panicking women who were in fact nurses with 20 infants in cribs, they were in a nursery. Their only option was to work together and get everyone out safely.
David and Doran resumed their honeymoon and went on the tour they were initially trying to get to before being a little sidetracked by becoming such heroes. David is now exploring opportunities as a volunteer firefighter in Rhode Island, something his father and grandfather did before him.
Inspirational stories such as these provide us with the motivation to rise above. When we learn through something or someone, we are able to achieve an enhanced well-being and a feeling of enthusiasm.
In today’s world small acts of kindness such as holding the door open for someone or acknowledging another person in an elevator can cause a ripple effect of kindness and respect in an otherwise harsh world. Let’s challenge the limitless power of our lives and do something inspiring today.
